Friday, or Jumu’ah, is a day of reflection, worship, and community for Muslims. Sharing inspiring stories from the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during Friday sermons can leave a lasting impact. These stories, supported by authentic Quranic verses and Hadiths, offer lessons on compassion, forgiveness, and humility.
The Prophet’s Mercy Toward Animals
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed mercy to all creatures. Once, he saw a bird fluttering in distress because someone had taken its young. He said, “Who has hurt the feelings of this bird by taking its young? Return them to her at once.” (Sunan Abi Dawood 2675)
Lesson: Be kind to animals. Allah says, “And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.” (Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:107)
Forgiveness in the Face of Hostility
When the Prophet (PBUH) visited Ta’if to invite its people to Islam, they mocked and attacked him. Despite this, he prayed, “O Allah, guide my people, for they do not know.” (Sahih Bukhari 3290)
Lesson: Forgive even in adversity. The Quran advises, “Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better.” (Surah Fussilat, 41:34)
The Prophet’s Care for Orphans
The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized caring for orphans. He said, “I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be in Paradise like this,” and held his two fingers together. (Sahih Bukhari 6005)
Lesson: Supporting orphans leads to Paradise. Allah commands, “So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].” (Surah Ad-Duhaa, 93:9)
Humility of the Prophet (PBUH)
The Prophet (PBUH) was humble despite his status. He helped with household chores. Aisha (RA) said, “He used to sew his clothes, mend his shoes, and work as other men work in their homes.” (Musnad Ahmad 24903)
Lesson: Practice humility. The Quran says, “And live with them in kindness.” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:19)
The Bedouin Who Urinated in the Mosque
A Bedouin urinated in the mosque, angering the companions. The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Pour a bucket of water over it. You have been sent to make things easy, not to make them difficult.” (Sahih Bukhari 6128)
Lesson: Handle mistakes with patience. The Quran teaches, “Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction.” (Surah An-Nahl, 16:125)
The Prophet’s Gratitude to Allah
The Prophet (PBUH) prayed for long hours, even when his feet swelled. When asked why, he said, “Should I not be a grateful servant?” (Sahih Bukhari 4836)
Lesson: Show gratitude. Allah says, “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor].” (Surah Ibrahim, 14:7)
Conclusion The stories of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are filled with wisdom and guidance. Sharing them during Friday talks can inspire kindness, forgiveness, and gratitude. The Quran says, “There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:21)
